Meet Dr. James Hill

Dentistry is the perfect blend of science and art. If done well, it can be life- changing. I obtain a great deal of satisfaction in exceeding patient expectations. When a patient can go from feeling the need to hide their teeth from others to being able to show off their beautiful smile, it is palpable and emotional.

I enjoy all aspects of dentistry; I take a great deal of pride in delivering quality pain-free care in all areas. Cosmetic dentistry is my passion; when a patient goes from being ashamed to show their teeth at all to having a “Hollywood” smile, it is life changing. I live for those moments!

Even more important to me are the relationships I’ve developed with my patients over time. I never take for granted the fact that they trust my team and me with their oral health.

My Education and Experience

Originally from the Lowcountry and a Cum Laude graduate of Summerville High School, I attended Charleston Southern University, where I received a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Business Administration. My curiosity in science drove me to pursue a career in the field, and I worked as a chemist for the Bayer Corporation for nearly eight years.

During this time, I chose to receive orthodontic treatment, and my life changed forever. The feeling I had when I first looked in the mirror after having my braces were removed was overwhelming and profound; although my teeth were only somewhat crooked prior to braces, my end-result was incredibly well done and it transformed my appearance. I felt pure joy! It was at that moment that I knew I wanted to give other people that same feeling.

After discovering my true passion, I enrolled in the Medical University of South Carolina and earned my Doctorate of Dental Medicine.

Commitment to Excellence

Ongoing continuing education helps us to keep up with the ever-changing world of dentistry. Technology has changed by leaps and bounds in the past decade, and staying current with the trends in the profession helps me to deliver the highest-quality care to our patients.

I complete general dentistry continuing education hosted by Wake Forest School of Medicine, Emory University, and the ADA, as well as endodontic training and seminars on practice management.

Outside the Office

My wife Erin and I are fortunate to live close to many relatives including nieces and nephews in the Upstate and the Lowcountry. When I’m not at work or with my family and friends, I enjoy hiking, camping, playing guitar, reading, and various sports.

As a perpetual student, I enjoy learning new things. Currently, I am learning Spanish and continuing to study different guitar styles. Cooking is also a passion of mine, especially world cuisine.
